I have seen the bodycam footage and I completely agree with your assessment. It demonstrates clearly that Minneapolis PD are among the best trained in the country and the attending officers acted with what seems like infinite patience as well as consummate professionalism throughout the encounter.
The Physician Dr Robt. Malone did the final autopsy that was used in the trial. He is bragging he did the perfect autopsy on him and that it was better than the original autopsy. That is so patently false its hard to believe Malone could actually defend it. Cauvin was a classic case of mob justice with the complete perversion of the system. Even many "conservatives" like Glenn Reynolds still think Chauvin is guilty. I don't hold out much hope for Chauvin to ever see the outside of prison bars. They will kill him.
In the TAM article
When they realized that this was sufficient,
Probably should be "insufficient"?

This is even more enlightening than the documentary Fall of Minneapolis, although perhaps is best read in conjunction with watching that video.
Thanks - There was a longer form discussion of that documentary in light of these articles over on Glenn Loury's Substack: https://glennloury.substack.com/p/john-mcwhorter-the-fall-of-minneapolis/comments
Thank you - it was actually from Loury's site that I first became aware of the documentary.
Unfortunately, you may be right. While Chauvin's appeals languish, the danger he faces in prison escalates.
